Hannaford Supermarkets has announced a plan to have its stores only use renewable power by 2024.

The president of the grocery store chain says this decision was made as part of the company's sustainability strategy and focus on climate change efforts. Hannaford has already taken steps to make its stores less energy-intensive including installing LED lights and state-of-the-art refrigeration systems. The parent company of Hannaford has also committed to becoming a net zero carbon business by 2040.
