The Capital Region is receiving more than $5 million to help combat the ongoing opioid crisis in the area.

State Attorney General Letitia James said Tuesday the funds will come from settlements with the manufacturers and distributors of opioids. Money will go towards treating people who are struggling with addiction and prevention programs to teach kids about the dangers of opioids and drugs. James says while no amount of money will replace all that's been lost during the epidemic, these funds will go a long way towards helping recovery efforts.
