A Rensselaer County man has been arrested after being accused of stealing more than $17-thousand in unemployment benefits.

The state Attorney General's Office says Johnny Neal of Troy filed for and collected the funds while he was working as a supervisor at the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. Neal also allegedly used his position with the agency to access confidential tax information for family, friends and acquaintances to help them out with their tax preparation process. He's facing multiple charges including felony grand larceny.
