Albany County Executive Dan McCoy is urging residents to safely dispose of any prescription medications they're not using.

McCoy says opioid addictions often start with drugs that are found in medicine cabinets and that many people who abuse them get access to those medications through their family members and friends. Officials say using pharmaceutical drugs without a doctor's guidance can be just as dangerous as using drugs bought on the streets. National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is coming up on October 29th and more information is available at dea.gov/takebackday.
