A Johnstown father has been arrested after being accused of assaulting his newborn child.

Officers were called to a home on Smith Street September 20th after getting a report about an unresponsive infant. An investigation revealed 33-year-old Jeremi Ferguson attacked the child who ended up being airlifted to Albany Med from Nathan Littauer Hospital. A police sergeant says the child has since been released from the hospital and is recovering well. Ferguson is charged with a felony and is due in court again at a later date.
