Hospitals across the Capital Region are reporting an increase in the number of kids who need treatment for a potentially serious illness.
Respiratory syncytial virus, which is also known as RSV, has symptoms of the common cold but it could lead to kids being hospitalized if they are not treated quickly. Those who are most at risk of ending up in the hospital are infants and also children who have a history of lung problems. There's no vaccine for RSV but parents can help protect their children by keeping them away from people who are ill and making sure they wash their hands often.
