Officials with the New York Independent System Operator say there's enough of an electricity supply in the Empire State to meet demand during the winter months.

There are over 43,000 megawatts of supply available and the agency is forecasting that peak demand will reach close to 24,000 megawatts based on expected winter temperatures. That'd be an increase of 685 megawatts from last winter's peak demand. Consumers are likely going to see higher bills in the coming months due to factors that continue to impact the cost of natural gas used in the production of electricity.
