A Capital Region Assemblyman has started an online petition to try and put a stop to proposed toll hikes on the New York State Thruway.

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara says people are already being hit hard by inflation and raising tolls would make traveling and commuting even more expensive. Last week, the Board of Directors for the Thruway Authority approved a plan that would increase tolls by five-percent in 2024 for E-ZPass customers and folks who pay by mail would also be handing over more money. Anyone who wants to sign the petition can do so at nyassembly.gov/Santabarbara.
