A Niskayuna man is going to be spending the next two years in prison for conspiring to give some of General Electric's trade secrets to China.

A judge sentenced 59-year-old Xiaoqing Zheng Monday after he was convicted by a jury last year. Prosecutors say between 2008 and 2018, Zheng, who worked as a GE Power engineer, stole the company's secrets involving steam and gas turbine technologies to benefit China. In addition to his time behind bars, Zheng also must pay a fine.
