Ex Rensselaer County Elections Commissioner Pleads Guilty to Voter Fraud

Former Rensselaer County Republican Elections Commissioner Jason Schofield is facing prison time after pleading guilty to voter fraud. During his court appearance Wednesday,

Schofield confessed to fraudulently filing absentee ballots in 2021 by using the personal information of several voters without their permission. He could be ordered to spend up to five years behind bars on each of the 12 counts he pleaded guilty to. Schofield is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
