Schenectady City Council President Marion Porterfield says she's looking into launching a bid to become the city's next mayor.

Porterfield says she'll meet with Democratic leaders this weekend before deciding if she'll challenge incumbent Mayor Gary McCarthy in a primary. McCarthy has said that he's planning to try and keep his current job for a fourth term. The only Republican to enter the contest so far is Matt Nelligan.
