Two Injured in Albany Vacant Building Fire, Investigation Ongoing

An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire that broke out in a vacant building in Albany, leaving two people, including a firefighter, with minor injuries. The fire started in the basement of the building located at 28 Bassett Street and quickly spread to the first floor. The Albany Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 3:33 p.m. on Tuesday (November 19) and had the fire under control by 3:53 p.m., according to CBS 6 Albany.

Fire Chief Joseph Gregory confirmed that both victims suffered minor injuries. The firefighter was treated at a local hospital and released. No pets were harmed in the incident. The fire was brought under control in less than 20 minutes, Times Union reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
