Cafe Hollywood, a popular bar on Lark Street in Albany, New York, remains closed following a shooting incident over the weekend. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, when a 32-year-old man was shot in the abdomen inside the bar. The victim managed to transport himself to Albany Medical Center, where he is currently listed in stable condition.
Following the incident, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan announced that the bar's occupancy certificate had been revoked. The decision was made in collaboration with the Albany Police Department, the Department of Corporation Counsel, and the Department of Buildings and Regulatory Compliance. "The business shall remain closed indefinitely, and inspectors from the Department of Buildings and Regulatory Compliance will inspect the property regularly to ensure it remains unoccupied," Sheehan said.
The suspect in the shooting fled the scene before police arrived. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact Albany Police detectives or leave an anonymous tip through the Capital Region Crime Stoppers website.
