The Colonie Police Department has issued a warning to Asian-American business owners in Colonie following a series of burglaries targeting their homes. Over the past two weeks, at least three burglaries have occurred, with criminals focusing on high-value items such as jewelry, purses, and cash.
According to WNYT, the burglars are believed to be surveilling the victims before breaking into their homes when they are not present. This pattern of crime is consistent with a nationwide trend that has been affecting the greater Capital District for the past two years. In some cases, the criminals have also broken into the business owners' cars.
The police department is urging anyone with information about these crimes to contact them or send an anonymous tip to Capital Region Crimestoppers. No arrests have been made in connection with these burglaries so far.
