Lee Kindlon will be officially sworn in as the new Albany County District Attorney today (December 30) at 4 p.m. The ceremony will take place at the Harold Joyce Albany County Office Building on State Street in Albany, New York. Kindlon, a Democrat, secured his position by defeating Republican Ralph Ambrosio and incumbent David Soares in the November election. Soares had served as District Attorney since 2005 and was seeking a sixth term.

Kindlon's victory was significant, as he won 65% of the vote. His campaign focused on issues such as bail reform, which he intends to prioritize during his tenure. The swearing-in ceremony will feature several Albany County officials, with the Honorable Elizabeth Garry administering the oath and Bishop Avery Comithier from Elijah Missionary Baptist Church delivering the invocation.

According to NEWS10, Kindlon received endorsements from prominent Democrats, including Albany County Executive Dan McCoy and Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan. His campaign gained momentum with support from figures like retiring New York state Senator Neil Breslin, who criticized Soares for his handling of funds and other issues.

Kindlon's focus on quality of life and public safety resonated with voters, as he emphasized the importance of safe streets and wise spending of tax dollars. As he takes office, Kindlon aims to address these concerns and bring change to the Albany County District Attorney's office.
