Albany Stabbing Suspect Arraigned on Attempted Murder Charges

Jonathan Bonaparte, the suspect in a Halloween stabbing incident in Albany has been arraigned on charges including attempted murder. The 33-year-old allegedly stabbed a 40-year-old woman in the neck on South Pearl Street on Halloween (October 31) and fled the scene. Police apprehended him near Green and Bassett Streets shortly after the incident.

The victim was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where she remains in stable condition. According to police, Bonaparte and the victim were acquainted, and the stabbing resulted from a dispute between them.

Bonaparte faces multiple charges, including second-degree attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, second-degree assault, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is currently held at the Albany County Jail without bail and is scheduled to reappear in court on January 29.
