Colonie police have issued a reminder to residents to lock their vehicles due to a recent increase in break-ins. The affected areas include Dutch Meadows, Old Loudon Road, Dunsbach Ferry, and Park Avenue. Thieves are targeting unlocked vehicles and stealing valuables left inside.

Authorities advise residents to lock their car doors, keep windows up, and remove valuables from sight, such as purses, wallets, electronics, and loose change. Parking in well-lit areas and installing exterior lights can also help deter theft.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the Colonie Police Department immediately. Anyone with information or who has experienced a vehicle break-in should contact the police by calling (518) 783-2744.
