An investigation is ongoing into the cause of a fire at the Stoneledge Terrace Apartments in Troy which occurred on Sunday (February 2). The fire started around 2:30 p.m. in the top apartment unit of the building, leading to the evacuation of all 12 units. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and everyone inside the building was able to evacuate safely.

Troy Fire Chief Rich Cellucci stated that the top floor suffered heavy fire damage, while the rest of the building experienced significant smoke and water damage. Utilities, including gas and electricity, were shut off as a precaution. Approximately 30 firefighters responded to the scene, and the fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes. The cold weather conditions posed challenges for the firefighters, making the roof slippery and difficult to navigate.

A Capital District Transportation Authority bus was brought to the scene to serve as a warming station for residents displaced by the fire. The property manager is working to accommodate those affected by arranging hotel stays. The Red Cross has been notified and will provide assistance to the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and city officials are collaborating with fire crews to determine what sparked the blaze. Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello expressed gratitude to News 10 for the quick response of the emergency teams and the support from the community.
