State Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Monday (June 16) involving an SUV and a semi truck on the Thruway westbound near the I-87 Northway interchange in Albany, New York. The crash happened around 12:11 p.m., resulting in the death of the SUV driver at the scene. The driver of the semi truck was unharmed and has been cooperative with the ongoing investigation, according to New York State Police.
The collision led to the closure of the left lane near the accident site for collision reconstruction, which was expected to last until about 5:30 p.m. CBS6 Albany reported that the lanes have since reopened for the morning commute.
The accident occurred just west of the Northway interchange near Exit 24, as detailed by NEWS10 ABC. Drivers were advised to proceed with caution as law enforcement remained on the scene to investigate.
