The Troy Police Department has issued a warning to residents about a recent increase in thefts from cars. Authorities are advising everyone to lock their car doors and ensure that windows are fully closed to prevent these crimes. The police did not specify which areas of the town are most affected, but they emphasized the importance of taking precautions.

Valuables such as wallets, electronics, bags, and keys should not be left in vehicles, especially in plain sight. Parking in well-lit and busy areas can also help deter thieves. For added security, residents are encouraged to use alarm systems or steering wheel locks.

If anyone notices suspicious activity or believes a theft is in progress, they should immediately call 911. The police department urges the community to stay vigilant and proactive in safeguarding their belongings.

According to WNYT, the police are working to address the issue and are asking for the public's cooperation. Additionally, NEWS10 ABC reported that the police are encouraging residents to bring valuables inside and avoid leaving vehicles unattended.
