Tom O'Connor and Justin Riccio are Co-Owners of Mohawk Insurance Services, Inc., an insurance brokerage located in Albany, NY. Recently opened in January 2022, Tom and Justin spent a year planning and identifying a local need: a high end, boutique commercial insurance brokerage program.
Mohawk Insurance Services has seen significant growth in their first 3 quarters. Justin contributes some of their success to being an independent agency, versus a large roll-up like many of their competitors - all while continuing to provide a high level service that their clients need. Additionally, they understand the importance of their 14 employees. They strive to hire employees with a vast knowledge of the marketplace amongst various industries, to help provide the best support to their clients.
Tom and Justin chose to start their business in the Capital Region for a few reasons. Not only are both Capital Region natives, but they also see the growth opportunities in the area, and find it to be a wonderful place to live and raise a family. They are committed to this community as well and work with the American Cancer Society for "Coaches Vs Cancer", Folds of Honor Foundation, JDRF, Berkshire Farm Center and many more.
Tom O'connor is the President and Founder of the NY Chapter of Folds of Honor, is on the board of Trustees at St. Gregory's School, and serves on the board of the Special Operator Transition Foundation (SOTF). Tom holds a bachelor's degree in History from Bates College. Tom and his wife Avery reside in Slingerlands, NY with their four children.
Justin Riccio began his insurance career in New York, working with global insurance carries AIG and Chubb in their underwriting and claims divisions. Justin holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Legal Studies from the University of Delaware. Justin and his wife Kristy reside in Voorheesville, NY with their three children.
