Boost Your Self Esteem in 6 Minutes

Brushing our teeth is a healthy habit we’re willing to dedicate time to every day because we know how important it is. So we spend a couple minutes in the morning and again at night banishing plaque and tartar and caring for our gums. Self-love is another habit we should all be practicing to get rid of the negative thought patterns that shake our confidence and we could actually do it in just the amount of time it takes to brush our teeth.

Research shows that regularly practicing mindfulness - being present in the moment and not reacting to thoughts and emotions - helps secure self-esteem. Another powerful tool for self-love is self-talk, where we say nice things about ourselves and control our inner monologue. And we can combine that with teeth brushing, so we’re multitasking and boosting our self-esteem at the same time.

So here’s what you do: next time you’re brushing your teeth, take that time to look in the mirror and pay yourself three compliments. It’s that easy. Instead of running through your to-do list while cleaning your pearly whites, dedicate that time to being kind to yourself.
