Happy Hour: Local Company Helping Vets

Photo: Facebook

A local company is doing a nice job for our veterans. JDog Junk Removal has a mission to help our military men and women find purpose and meaning after they've completed their service.

The junk removal business is staffed primarily by veterans and people from military families. Dan Bearor of JDog says they could not have better employees.

Instead of dumping loads in landfills, JDog works to recycle and resell items. Items are donated to charities or sold to benefit veterans causes.

A 9-year-old boy in South Dakota is battling Leukemia. Javier Amos is in remission but the Make a Wish Foundation had recently approached him offering to grant him any wish he wanted. Most kids choose something like Disney or meeting their favorite athlete.

Well, all this kid wanted was a pizza party for his friends at school. And of course, they got it! But not just a pizza party, they had zoo animals bounce houses and laser tag and the little boy got to ride to school in a police car. As they pulled in, the kids lined the sidewalks with signs they had made for him.

The head of Make a Wish there says he's never seen anything like it.
