Happy Hour: Duanesburg High School Seniors Donate Class Fund to Food Bank

Mother's Day during a pandemic could have been very tough for a lot of local families but it was less so for people who had a mom at Prestwick Chase in Saratoga. Prestwick takes care of it's own and made sure its residents got a chance to see their family on mom's big day. They set up a big parade outside the complex so families could see each other from a safe distance.

The senior class at Duanesburg High donated a cool $4,000 from its class fund to help the hungry. It took the kids the better part of 6 years to raise most of that money, which was originally going to go to help pay for the prom and senior trip. Those were cancelled and the kids decided they wanted to help people struggling during the pandemic. They gave the money to the regional food bank.

What a great honor for a great man last week in Charlton. Lincoln Deetz turned 100 years old and he's certainly seen a lot. He's a decorated war veteran and was part of the allied invasion of Normandy on D-Day. Mr. Dietsz.says he was touched by the huge turnout for his 100th.

...And, no surprise, he's apparently tough as nails. At the tender age of 99, he was working on his garage door in November when he took a bad step off a ladder, fell and broke his pelvis. He says he's now almost fully recovered. Of his town and the people of Charlton he says, they're the best in the country.
