Thank you, to all of you who made "The WGY Care for Kids Radiothon for the Children's Hospital at Albany Med" such a huge success. Together, we raised over 276-thousand dollars over two days last week and proved the pandemic couldn't keep us from helping the kids. We thank you, please know that we never take your support for granted and your generosity is truly an inspiration.
And a very happy birthday to Genevieve Freer of Schenectady who turned 103 on Saturday. Genevieve was surprised when she got out of the car to see her friends and family ready to celebrate her birthday with her at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Schenectady, where she's has been a parishioner since 1955.
Genevieve was born in 1917, she says she feels good these days. Her best tip is to enjoy life one day at a time and to never give up. Keep on slugging, and Happy birthday Genevieve!
In Waynesville, Indiana, a mom of three is paying forward a random act of kindness.
She took her kids to the McDonald's drive through after football practice and they were all crying in the back. She managed to get the order placed and when she pulled forward, she realized she forgot her purse at home.
A Teenager named Wyatt was running the window. He looked at her, and the crying kids and said "no problem" and paid for the order out of his own pocket. Not only did she go back and re-pay him, she wanted others to know about his act of kindness.. So she posted it on Facebook, and set up a GoFundMe as a thank you. And get this... It's now up to 29-thousand dollars. She says we all need more people like Wyatt in our lives.
