Whoopi Goldberg said a word on “The View” that is considered offensive and derogatory towards the Romani people. The word used has been used in the past to mean cheated or deceived.
During a discussion on the show about Donald Trump and Stormy Daniels, Goldberg used the word to refer to people who believe that Trump was cheated in the election. The word was not censored at the time.
Goldberg apologized after the show in a video, saying that she used the word because it was something she heard and used when she was younger. She says she realizes now that it was wrong and hurtful.
