The Albany County Department for Aging is collecting stories about The College of Saint Rose from alumni, friends, faculty, and neighbors for a commemorative book honoring the college's legacy before it closes.

Founded as a women's college in 1920 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and located in downtown Albany, Saint Rose expanded from training teachers to preparing women for business and other professions. The college first admitted men in 1946 for evening classes for World War II veterans and in graduate programs starting in 1949, becoming fully coeducational in 1969.

For the book titled "A Toast to Saint Rose: Book of Memories," the department is asking for the community to email one or two paragraphs highlighting your fondest college memories, such as your first moments on campus, favorite professors or students, or how your Saint Rose degree impacted you, along with your name and graduation year, to Deborah.riitano@albanycountyny.gov or you can mail your submission to Albany County Department for Aging, 100 Heritage Lane, Albany, NY 12205.
