CNN On 9/11: “Right-Wing” More Dangerous than Jihadists

What the network called “CNN Reality Check” anchor John Avlon made the point that right-wingers are America’s “deadliest terrorists” if you exclude the deadliest, most catastrophic terrorist attack ever perpetrated on U.S. soil.

Avlon used 9/11 as a pivot point to talk about not the Muslim terrorist that flew the planes in the Twin Towers & the Pentagon, but what he says is the true danger in America – those “right-wingers”.

He said “in the past year, we’ve also been forced to confront a growing threat from another form of violent extremism: white nationalist terrorism”He then cited the recent mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and at synagogues in both San Diego and Pittsburgh, saying “these terror suspects echoed white supremacist talk about ‘replacement,’ hatred towards Jews, immigrants, refugees, and that’s not including the would-be attacks thwarted by law enforcement.”

He added that “since 9/11, right-wing terrorists have killed more people in the United States than jihadist terrorists.”

As The Washington Examiner’s T. Becket Adams writes:

“That is one hell of a qualifier to say that right-wingers are the deadliest, as long as you don't count the deadliest. The figures Avlon cites come from the left-leaning think tank New America, which reports the “far right-wing,” which apparently includes everything from Sovereign Citizens, to neo-Nazis, to a gunman who once "expressed hatred towards liberals and gays," has murdered 109 people in the U.S. following the Sept. 11 attacks. In comparison, jihadis have murdered 104 people during that same time period, according to New America. In other words, “right-wingers are America’s deadliest terrorists” by a difference of five, and only if you exclude the nearly 3,000 people who were murdered by jihadis on Sept. 11, 2001. New America's terrorist activity database, by the way, is headed by its vice president for global studies and fellows, Peter Bergen, who also happens to work as a national security analyst for CNN.”
