Man Stealing Catalytic Converters Is Gunned Down In The Spring Branch Area

Po-po believe an armed good Samaritan shot at thieves who have been stealing a catalytic converter off a pickup truck in West Houston.

According to HPD, one of the thieves was later found shot to death after he and the other suspects crashed in a white BMW while trying to escape the gunfire.

KPRC-TV reports:

“Officers said the victim, who was driving a white BMW, was found in the street in the 9600 block of Long Point with a gunshot wound around 6:30 a.m.
According to investigators, the man and a group of people were stealing catalytic converters on Spring Rock near Long Point Drive and at some point, someone opened fire on the group. Police said that’s when the group took off and lost control, causing the car to crash into another vehicle and then a fence.
Multiple people got out of the vehicle and ran, police said. Investigators said the victim collapsed in the street and died.”

Detectives say they found three catalytic converters in the trunk of the white BMW.
