Organizers of Sunday's "Healing Schoharie" fund-raising concert are hoping for big crowds and good weather. The much-anticipated event is set for noon to 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 28, at Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady, rain or shine.
It'll be headlined by local musical favorites Skeeter Creek and Grand Central Station, with performances by three a cappella groups from Union College.
“We are humbled to be able to help in any way we can” said Joe Kulewicz, the leader of Skeeter Creek. “This was such a horrible tragedy, and to happen so close to home, it just seemed so unfathomable.”
"It's still pretty fresh in everybody's mind," said Schoharie Fire Chief Marty Pierce. "Everybody is still in a grieving process, but the amount of support that first responders have received after this tragic event is truly overwhelming."
The event will also feature food vendors, a raffle of items donated by local businesses, that include a visit to the set of NBC's "This is Us," and a visit to the set of NBC's "Law and Order: SVU," activities for kids, and much more.
Druthers Brewing is donating all proceeds from beer sales and 50% from meals and drinks served in the restaurant.
Tickets are $10 and all proceeds from tickets and the raffle will go to families and first responders.
