NOW ON DEMAND: The WGY 100th Anniversary Broadcast

On February 20, 2022 the iconic radio brand, WGY, celebrated its 100th year of broadcasting with a live afternoon of celebratory programming.

Many past and present hosts, news anchors and members of New York’s Capital Region took part in the special event; including WGY Morning host Doug Goudie and former WGY host Joe Gallagher. North Country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, State Senator Jim Tedisco, and Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy also joined the broadcast and bestowed special honors upon the station.

A retelling of radio’s first radio drama “The Wolf” was also presented live from the Kenmore Ballroom in Albany, NY, where WGY has a history of broadcasting from going back to 1923. We'd like to thank the Schenectady Light Opera Company, Playwright Benjamin McCauley, the Musicians of Ma'alwyck, the Kenmore, WGY's Mike Patrick, Diane Donato, Jillian Shuhart, Dave Abdoo, Chris Warren, and SLOC's Matthew Camelo and Jeffrey Hocking for making it an unforgettable performance and tribute to radio's history. UPDATE: Video of this performance is at the bottom of this page.

If you missed the broadcast, listen below on demand and share it!
